Assemblyman Robert Smullen has recently used his social media platform to comment on Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s political career and his own legislative priorities. Smullen, who represents New York’s 118th Assembly District, shared several posts between December 19 and December 22, 2025, addressing Stefanik’s service and leadership as well as discussing his policy approach.
On December 19, Smullen publicly praised Stefanik’s contributions, writing, “I respect and appreciate Congresswoman @EliseStefanik’s years of dedicated service to NY-21 and the North Country. She has been a strong conservative leader and a tireless advocate for Upstate New York, delivering results for families, workers, and communities across our region.”
Continuing the discussion on December 22, Smullen referenced an appearance on WIBX Radio in Utica where he spoke about Stefanik’s decision not to run for governor. He stated, “I joined Keeler in the Morning on WIBX Radio in Utica to talk about Congresswoman Elise Stefanik and her decision not to run for governor. Later that same day, Smullen highlighted his legislative philosophy in another post: ‘”Smullen says his policies are rooted in a “common-sense” approach, and goals could include actions such as securing the nation’s border. Smullen said one of his foremost legislative priority would be to ensure affordability across the region, saying that this would continue”‘
Smullen serves constituents in northern New York State as a member of the state assembly. His recent statements reflect ongoing support within regional Republican circles for Congresswoman Stefanik—who has represented New York’s 21st congressional district since 2015—and also signal his own focus on issues such as border security and regional affordability.
