A public hearing will be held by the Delaware County Board of Supervisors on November 12, 2025, to discuss a proposed local law that would allow the county to override the tax levy limit set by New York State law. The meeting is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in the Supervisors’ Room at the Senator Charles D. Cook County Office Building in Delhi.
The proposed legislation, Local Law Intro. No. 3 of 2025, seeks to comply with Subdivision 5 of General Municipal Law §3-c. This provision gives county boards the authority to override state-imposed tax levy limits if at least sixty percent of board members approve such a measure.
“All persons interested in speaking concerning the proposed changes will be heard at the aforementioned time and place,” stated Penny A. Bishop, Clerk of the Board for Delaware County. “Disabled citizens who require assistance in attending said public hearing or in furnishing comments or suggestions should contact the Clerk of the Board to request assistance at (607) 832-5110.”
The outcome of this hearing could impact how much property tax revenue Delaware County can collect for its budget next year.
