Assemblyman Robert Smullen, a New York state legislator and candidate for Congress in NY-21, has used his social media platform to highlight his experience under President Trump and reinforce his campaign priorities.

On December 1, 2025, Smullen posted: “In 2018, President Trump appointed me to the President’s Commission on White House Fellows, one of America’s most respected leadership boards. Serving under President Trump, I fought for strong leadership, government accountability, and policies that put our country first.”

The following day, December 2, he continued to emphasize his support for the former president’s agenda by stating: “President Trump needs a fighter in Congress, and Democrats are doing all they can to stop his agenda, I’ll fight back. Sign up to volunteer or chip in:”

On December 3, Smullen referenced both his military background and current political ambitions: “I had a great time joining @hughhewitt to talk about my service in the Marines, my work as an Assemblyman, and my run for Congress as the only Trump-appointed conservative in this race. I’m committed to fighting for the people of NY-21, putting upstate families first…”

Smullen is currently serving as a member of the New York State Assembly representing District 118. He is running for Congress in New York’s 21st congressional district (NY-21), positioning himself as a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump’s policies. The President’s Commission on White House Fellows is known for selecting leaders from various fields to participate in public service at high levels of government.
