Assemblyman Robert Smullen has been named to the Higher Education Budget Committee for the Assembly Minority Conference. The appointment was made by Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

Smullen, who represents Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks, expressed his commitment to addressing issues within New York state’s higher education system. He stated, “As ranking Minority member of the Higher Education Committee, I am very proud to serve on this budget committee to address the needs of students, teachers and leaders in New York state’s higher education system.”

He also extended gratitude towards Barclay for his trust in assigning him this role: “Special thanks to Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay for entrusting me with this position.”
