Of the 17,836 people living in Amsterdam in 2019, 53.6 percent (9,556) were women and 46.4 percent (8,280) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Mohawk Valley Times.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by a ratio of 5,579-to-4,891. In the 65 and over age range, there were 1,810 females and 1,273 males.
