Delaware County Department of Public Works - As Halloween Approaches, Here Are Some Ideas for Getting Creative With Your Decorations and Costumes

As Halloween approaches, here are some ideas for getting creative with your decorations and costumes. Use fallen leaves in craft projects or repurpose items from around the house or outside into new decorations. Reuse clothing or give a past costume a new twist. When carving jack-o’-lanterns, roast those tasty seeds and compost pumpkins after the celebration concludes!

Costumes you no longer want can be donated to thrift stores or placed in our clothing bin at the Solid Waste Management Center. While you are at the thrift stores, check for gently worn costumes or clothes you can turn into a costume if you need a new one.

We are also happy to compost pumpkins for you-just place them in your household garbage.

May be an image of 1 person, child and text that says 'Repurpose old clothing items by incorporating them into this year's Halloween costume. #RecycleRightNY'
