Delaware County Department of Public Works - Ice Bridge Safety

Get ready to hold onto your chair as your watch the unsuspecting drivers in this video slide on bridges.

Ice Bridge Safety:

1. Stay aware of weather and road conditions

2. Know the warning signs of icy bridges

3. SLOW DOWN when bridge icing threatens

4. Avoid major bridges

Delaware County has the second most bridges in New York State. Delaware County DPW can’t be everywhere at once, although we do our very best to prevent and remove ice as quickly as possible. It’s everyone’s responsibility to drive safely. Don’t get caught off-guard this winter while traveling. This video provides good information regarding how to both prevent problems on icy bridges and what to do if sliding does occur. Be vigilant out there and don’t let the cold weather win!
