Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) has revealed plans for the 16th Annual Venison for Veterans & Seniors of Fulton and Montgomery Counties event, scheduled to take place on Monday, April 22 at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. The event, as described by Assemblyman Smullen, is a collaborative effort involving various local organizations.
The assemblyman emphasized the importance of the community's involvement, stating, "This volunteer event organized by local hunters and in partnership with assemblymembers, the Fulton and Montgomery counties’ Offices for the Aging, the Fulton and Montgomery counties’ Sheriffs’ Offices and local community groups will take place at Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Monday, April 22."
As the event approaches, Assemblyman Smullen encouraged veterans and seniors to participate by contacting the designated representatives for delivery arrangements, saying, "In the remaining three weeks leading up to this event, veterans and seniors are encouraged to call Andrea Fettinger of the Fulton County Office of the Aging at (518) 736-5650 or David Jordan of the Montgomery County Office of the Aging at (518) 843-2300 to leave their name, address, ZIP code and telephone number to have venison, fish and other wild game delivered to them."
Furthermore, Assemblyman Smullen revealed that volunteer first responders would be actively involved in the distribution process, ensuring that all participants receive their share of the donated game. He acknowledged the crucial role of partners in preserving the donated game, stating, "The donated game has been kept in freezer storage through a partnership with Don Wicksell of Kingsboro Lumber Company and Tom Georgia of Tribes Hill."
