Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks) was instrumental in the organization and participation of the 16th Annual Venison for Veterans & Seniors of Fulton and Montgomery Counties, as reported on Apr 23, 2024. The event, a yearly volunteer initiative, brings together local hunters, assemblymembers, the Offices for the Aging of Fulton and Montgomery counties, the Sheriffs’ Offices of the respective counties, and various community groups aiming to support veterans and seniors in need.

Expressing his gratitude for the community's support, Smullen remarked, “I was amazed to see an even greater turnout at this year’s Venison for Veterans & Seniors event.” He also extended his appreciation to local partners, stating, “Thank you to Tom Georgia of Tribes Hill and Don Wicksell of Kingsboro Lumber Company for partnering with us and keeping the donated venison frozen leading up to our event yesterday.”

Acknowledging the vital role played by the Offices for the Aging, Smullen thanked Andrea Fettinger and David Jordan of Fulton and Montgomery counties for facilitating the sign-up process for veterans and seniors in need of venison and other wild game delivery. He also recognized the participation of Assemblymen Matthew Simpson and Chris Tague in the event, along with the support provided by Sheriffs Richard Giardino and Jeff Smith in organizing volunteer groups and ensuring the smooth distribution of donations.

Reflecting on the community's unity and dedication to supporting veterans and seniors, Smullen concluded, “Venison for Veterans & Seniors is truly remarkable, bringing our community together year after year to help support our veterans and seniors. I can’t wait to see this community effort continue to expand and grow in the years to come.”
