As the holiday season approaches, a new initiative aims to provide warmth to those in need. Senator Peter Oberacker has announced the first annual Senate District 51 Coat Drive, which will collect new or gently used winter coats and jackets of any size for distribution to families during the winter months.

The coat drive is organized in collaboration with various local organizations across several counties. In Sullivan County, the Monticello Rotary Club is partnering with the initiative, and donations will be given to the United Way of Sullivan County. Collection points include Jeff Bank locations on Anawana Lake Road and Forestburgh Road in Monticello, the Sullivan County Government Center, Ethelbert B Crawford Library, Liberty Police Department, and Callicoon Town Hall.

In Otsego County, collections are supported by Sheriff Rich Devlin through a partnership with the Angel Network. Donations can be made at Senator Oberacker's office in Oneonta.

Delaware County's effort is backed by District Attorney Shawn Smith and Sheriff Craig DuMond through Delaware Opportunities. The collection site is located at the Delaware County Office Building in Delhi.

Broome County sees support from Sheriff Fred Akshar alongside collaboration with the United Way of Broome County. Contributions can be made at their location on Jensen Road in Vestal.

Finally, Schoharie County's efforts are conducted in collaboration with The Joshua Project of Schoharie County; however, details about this location are yet to be determined.

All facilities will accept donations from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., providing an opportunity for community members to contribute to this cause.
