Assemblyman Robert Smullen is encouraging students from New York state to take part in the 2025 Donate Life Month Student Art Contest. This initiative aims to celebrate Donate Life Month in April by inviting elementary, middle, and high school students from both public and private schools to submit their art. The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2025, with winners being announced on April 8, 2025, in Albany.
Smullen shared his personal connection to the cause: “The New York State Donate Life program is incredibly important to me and my family,” he said. He recounted the loss of his son AJ in March 2024, noting AJ's participation in the organ donation program. “AJ courageously gave the ultimate gift by participating in this life-saving program and donating to five families in need.”
He encouraged students to express their views on donation and transplantation through art. Smullen stated that he would continue working with legislative colleagues to enhance the New York State Donate Life program. He urged those interested in participating to register as donors, adding, “Together, we can make a difference and help save lives.”
