Arnot Health announced on Apr. 7 that it received a $27,500 donation from the Josh Palmer Fund to benefit cancer patients at the Falck Cancer Center. The funds will be used to support programs and services aimed at easing the physical, emotional, and financial challenges faced by patients in the Southern Tier.
The donation is intended to help individuals and families access resources that complement medical treatment. For more than three decades, the Falck Cancer Center at Arnot Ogden Medical Center has provided comprehensive care close to home for those affected by cancer.
Casey Rose, Director of the Arnot Health Foundation, said, “We are deeply grateful to the Josh Palmer Fund for their continued investment in the care we provide at the Falck Cancer Center. This generous gift allows Arnot Health to meet patients where they are, supporting them not only clinically, but also by helping relieve the financial stress that often accompanies a cancer diagnosis.”
The Josh Palmer Fund was created by Elmira native Josh Palmer after he was diagnosed with late-stage Hodgkin’s disease at age 19. Following his recovery, Palmer recognized that many families face significant financial strain during cancer treatment. The nonprofit now assists local cancer patients with expenses related to their care and raises money through community events such as golf and basketball tournaments.
Funds raised by these events are donated to healthcare organizations like Arnot Health’s Falck Cancer Center in order to support patients throughout their treatment journey.
“Community partnerships like this are critical to our mission,” Rose said. “Because [of] the generosity of organizations like the Josh Palmer Fund, Arnot Health can continue delivering compassionate, comprehensive cancer care while patients can focus on what matters most: healing.”
