Otsego County saw Oneonta Senior High School top the list with most students enrolled in 2022-23 school year

Oneonta Senior High School had the highest enrollment among Otsego County schools, welcoming 502 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 77.3% of the Oneonta Senior High School's total enrollment.

Among the 21 schools in Otsego County, Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 460 students, while Cooperstown Elementary School welcomed 406 students and came in third in the 2022-23 school year.

Oneonta Senior High School is part of Oneonta City School District, which roughly covers one school within Otsego County and has a main office in Cherry Valley.

In the previous school year, Oneonta Senior High School also had the highest number of students among Otsego County schools.

In 2022, New York had roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is lower than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
