Bovina issued the following announcement on Aug. 12
The State Health Department is working with the 700+ school districts in New York to address comments or concerns provided to individual districts in an effort to address any possible safety concerns, testing protocols and other deficiencies in plans.
Each district will be required to have 3 – 5 public meetings with school faculty and parents prior to reopening.
For questions regarding your school’s plan or a schedule for public meetings please reach out to your local school district offices.
New York State continues to stress the importance of social distancing. Social distancing and face coverings are required while in public spaces, shopping, receiving any type of services or gathering in groups.
We are asking that you please respect these guidelines in an effort to help all of our local businesses remain open.
Delaware County received no new positive test result for COVID-19 today and no additional recoveries have been reported.
The known active cases in the County as of today remains 1.
To date there have been 97 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County, with 15 people now under mandatory quarantine and no one under precautionary quarantine. The numbers have remained fairly consistent with confirmed cases and recoveries rising slowly, keeping the number of active cases and deaths flat from day to day.

total population has been tested with test results being reported every day.
The next chart represents the total number of new daily tests since March 26, 2020.
Another important measure that we need to be conscious of are the residents that have been placed under mandatory or precautionary quarantine.
The next chart shows the number of residents quarantined and isolated.
The pie chart illustrates the amount of testing and the results reported.
The next chart represents the total number of confirmed cases in Delaware County in relationship to the number of those cases that have been discharged from care, deceased and active cases of the disease.
The number of known active cases as of today is 1 and the number discharged is 90 while the number deceased is 6.
As businesses have been reopening and more people begin to visit stores, restaurants and now places for entertainment please be aware of the state guidance and respect the business owner’s directives to wear face coverings and keep spacing between people.
Businesses have gone to great lengths to comply with the State mandates and their ability to remain open is dependent on compliance. Please remember the Governor’s Executive Orders have stated that any business owner can refuse service if you do not comply.
If anyone is concerned about a business or individual not complying with the safety guidelines, please DO NOT contact the Delaware County Public Health Office with complaints. You should file a complaint through New York State at
https://labor.ny.gov/…/laborsta…/coronavirus-complaints.shtm.
We would also like to remind Delaware County residents that summer events like the Delaware County Fair are being cancelled or altered as a result of state-wide standards being implemented in the fight against COVID-19.
These local events are the primary source of fundraising for several local fire departments, EMS squads, not for profit groups, VFWs and Legions, as well as several philanthropic and fraternal organizations.
Our communities rely on the generosity of these groups and the volunteers that make them function. Without these large
fundraising events many will not be able to provide services as readily as we are accustom to.
All Delaware County communities have come to rely on programs, services and contributions from these groups in our daily lives, including distribution of Christmas baskets for the needy, glasses for our seniors or school supplies for our youth all of these groups give back to each and every one of us all year round.
We are asking that in light of these cancellations and limited fundraising opportunities that you please consider making any size contribution you can.
Even the smallest amount goes further than the actual contribution due to the creativity and ingenuity of these
important organizations.
