City of Amsterdam issued the following announcement in Aug. 26
TheNew York State Department of Transportation Utica Regional Office has issuedthe following travel advisory for motorists in the City of Amsterdam,Montgomery County:
Dueto continuing bridge repair work, the Route 30 Northbound Bridge over Route 67will remain closed to traffic while construction continues. This closureimpacts all northbound traffic on Route 30 (Church Street) destined for MarketStreet, North Amsterdam and points north of the City of Amsterdam. The bridgeis scheduled to reopen to traffic on Thursday, September 3 with work completedby Friday, September 18.
Variablemessage signs will remain in operation notifying local motorists of the bridgeclosure due to construction work. Signed detours will be utilized to advisemotorists of the bridge closure and direct traffic to the appropriate detourroutes.
Motoristsare urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubledfor speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violationsin a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driverlicense.
