“Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together” is this year’s theme for World Antimicrobial Awareness Week from November 18 – 24, 2022.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Antibiotic resistance happens when the germs no longer respond to the antibiotics designed to kill#USAAW22
That means the germs are not killed and continue to grow. In the U.S., more than 2.8 million antimicrobial-resistant infections occur each year.
More than 35,000 people die as a result according to CDC’s 2019 Antibiotic Resistance (AR) Threats Report.
