ALBANY, 06/07/24 -- State Senator Peter Oberacker (R/C – Schenevus) today commented on the completion of the 2024 legislative session.
“The final days of the 2024 legislative session mirrored much of what emanated from Albany throughout the year – policies that spend more money, erode private rights, and pander to special interests. None of this helps improve our economy, keep people safe, or stave off the mass exodus from New York,” Oberacker stated.
“Bills I sponsored to end the failed cashless bail experiment, help our small businesses, and provide incentives to volunteer first responders were shelved by the Democrat Majority. Commonsense amendments brought to the senate floor were routinely dismissed. This is what one-party rule looks like in Albany and it needs to change,” he added.
“Back in January, I joined with my Senate Republican colleagues to promote a wide-ranging agenda focused on affordability, accountability, and reforms that will translate to a bright future. I am not giving up on those proposals.”
“Moving forward, I will continue to partner with those I represent in the 51st Senate District and fight even harder to ensure that our shared priorities are front and center at the Capitol,” Oberacker concluded.
