The storms on Friday, August 9, 2024, damaged both public and private properties across Delaware County. Delaware County, along with local municipalities, continues to clean up and assess damages while the Emergency Services Office and local volunteer fire departments are addressing the needs of those affected by the storms.
As residents evaluate damages from the heavy rain, the Delaware County Emergency Services Office is compiling a list of those who have had personal property damages to land and/or homes. Residents who sustained damages, even if minor, are encouraged to call the Emergency Services Office at 607-832-5600 and provide necessary information.
Documentation is important for any potential claims to insurance or assistance from state or federal governments. The office suggests documenting damages with photographs that are time and date stamped if possible.
Later this week, state representatives will visit Delaware County to evaluate damages. Residents will be notified of the date, times, and location so they can discuss their damages and potential programs or assistance if available.
"Please note that this is for information gathering only at this time and is in no way a guarantee of assistance," stated an official notice.
