Cabin Hill Presbyterian Church issued the following announcement on April 6
Yesterday, the world waved palm branches and hailed Jesus as their savior. The week started out bright, but will darken by Friday. In the in-between-time, Christ will braid a whip and turn over tables in Temple and scatter coins and people, angry at how they are sinning in his Father's house. And then he will eat his last meal with his disciples and be betrayed by one of them. Pilate, and the people who shouted "Hosanna!" yesterday, will then have the last say in Jesus' fate. The shadow of cross looms over everything that will happen this week. May God be with each of us during this Holy Week and may the power of God's Holy Spirit surround us with God's grace and keep us safe in health and in spirit.
OUR PRAYER and SCRIPTURE FOR THIS HOLY WEEK ~~
Collect Your scattered your sheep with Your voice,
Your divine Word as Holy Writ calls it.
Help us to recognize Your voice.
Help us not to be allured by the madness of the world,
so that we may never fall away from You,
O Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Albrecht Durer (1471-1528)
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul.
Psalm 23:1-3 (NRSV)
May your journey through Holy Week remind you of God's presence and providence.
