Cost of college went up for all students at Fulton-Montgomery Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3 percent for 2018-19 at Fulton-Montgomery Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $5,170 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $150 more than the $5,020 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 89 percent more than residents this year, or $9,770. Their price tag grew 3.2 percent from $9,470 in 2017-18.

About 94 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 5 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 83 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 403 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.4 million and 176 students took out student loans totaling more than $888,095.

Including all undergraduates (2,451), 1,154 students used grants or scholarships totaling $6.2 million, and 604 students took out $3.4 million in federal student loans.
